Reproductive Justice and Gender Affirming Care
Community Health Needs Assessment
2024-2025
The Oregon Health Equity Alliance (OHEA)is facilitating a Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) focused on Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (QTBIPOC) experiences related to accessing Reproductive and Gender Affirming Care in the tri-county region of Oregon (Clackamas, Multnomah, and Washington counties) from October 2024 to June 2025.
Purpose:There is little to no centralized data available on the experiences of QTBIPOC
accessing reproductive and gender affirming care, across the nation or regionally in the
tri-county area. In the wake of Roe vs Wade being overturned and regressive trans healthcare
laws being passed across the country, Oregon provides valuable care for not only its in-state
residents but out-of-state visitors seeking care. This CHNA will offer insight into 1) people’s
experiences in accessing care through the healthcare system 2) challenges 3) what are the
most pressing issues to be improved/addressed, led by the communities who receive this care.
How: The Advisory Council will set the priorities of the CHNA with support from OHEA. The
CHNA will be administered by OHEA staff and led by a community advisory council made up of no more than 13 community members in the region directly impacted by these issues. The
Advisory Council will meet between October to June to shape the focus of the survey and
questions. A data analyst practiced in a feminist, decolonial framework will work with us to
design the survey and OHEA and the advisory council will share the survey out to the tri-county
area.
